THE BIG RIP BREWING CO.

The Big Rip Brewing Company is a growing 4bbl brewery serving North Kansas City’s industrial south end since May 2013. Friends Josh Collins and Kipp Feldt caught the beer-making bug in college and spent years as hobby homebrewers. The next logical step was to create a hangout for friends to try their beer. And so they opened Big Rip– one of the first craft breweries in the modern Kansas City beer-making boom. They base each new beer off of a horror or sci-fi movie reference, something you’ll find playing up on TV when you visit the taproom.

A cozy drinking quarters with expanded event space and a back patio, Big Rip serves loyal locals, beer tourists, and shift workers at happy hour, and provides a gateway between the North Kansas City brewing corridor and breweries found in the River Market and Crossroads of KCMO. Josh and Kipp promoted Bri Burrows as their new head brewmaster in 2018, and look to the future, standing out in an increasingly crowded brewing corridor with their signature malt-forward sweet brown and vanilla cream ale, the hoppy Delta 88, and always solid Aisle 12 West Coast IPA (both names a nod to the “Evil Dead” franchise). As they say in their mission, “We don’t have goals of taking over the world or creating beer that only appeals to a select few. Instead, we want to create unique beers that appeal to both beer-nerds and people new to craft beer.”

Big Rip has a partnership with Hawg Jaw BBQ next door, where patrons can order from their taproom kiosk. Hawg Jaw staff will then deliver right to their table inside Big Rip!
